In the UK it is illegal to send unsolicited fax broadcasts to the following groups:

Individuals |
|
Sole traders |
|
Partnerships (except in Scotland) |
|
Companies that have indicated a desire NOT to receive faxes and which have joined the Fax Preference Service (FPS) or who have notified you directly that they do not wish to receive further faxes from you. |
Advertisers who transgress the above will, in the first instance(s) be given a caution, but any continuing infringements risk escalating fines of up to £5,000.
